The fourth studio album by the Steven Troch Band, “The Dawning”, is their most versatile album to date. The band has a broader sound that is at the crossroads of different roots styles. The songs balance between rough and polished.
The album cover, a painting by Iris Van Der Kerken, captures the dawning of a new day and hints at a band that is taking new musical paths. Troch’s slightly weathered vocals and his wailing harmonicas, the strong guitar playing of Matt T. Mahony, and the sultry rhythm section of Sprangers and de Gier are enriched with a wide range of instruments.
Sometimes deceptively light-hearted or even cheerful, but if you listen carefully, you will soon discover the winks to deeper meanings. Beware “The Dawning” only reveals itself after repeated listening.
all songs written by Steven Troch and published by Donor Publishing, except “On The Road Again” written by J.B Jones & Will Shade
